When you're the son of legendary India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who is considered to be somewhat of a god in India, there is undoubtedly going to be immense pressure on your shoulders to live up to people's expectations. However, Arjun Tendulkar looks to be living up to the hype surrounding his foray into cricket having impressed in recent months while playing in various tournaments back home in India.
Arjun, who earned his maiden India U-19 call up last year, has gone from strength to strength ever since and once again made the headlines for impressing in the ongoing Second XI championship while playing for MCC Young Cricketers.
The MCC youngsters were up against a Surrey side that did not have the best of starts after winning the toss and deciding to bat on a decent surface in England. Tendulkar Jr almost immediately made his mark with the ball as he picked the wicket of opposition opener Nathan Tilley with a magical delivery on the first ball of the third over. The Mumbai U-23 squad member bowled a magical delivery from over the wicket that angled across and swung back in off length to hit the top of the right hander’s off stump. Tilley had initially decided to offer a dead bat to the ball but ended up being cramped as the ball breached his defense before going on to hit the stumps. Take a bow lad!
