Shoaib Akhtar replies to Moin Khan’s jibe on him after Sarfraz Ahmed remarks
Shoaib Akhtar, who is in the news after harshly criticizing Sarfraz Ahmed for his lack of fitness standards, has replied strongly to Moin Khan for his negative remarks on him. Moin had supported Sarfraz and claimed that had Akhtar been a bit sincere himself, he would’ve taken 450 wickets.
After Pakistan failed to overcome the short-ball challenge by the Windies pacers, and eventually being dismissed for 105 in 21.4 overs, fans and experts made their disappointment public. Shoaib Akhtar was particularly angry as he slammed the Pakistan skipper’s lack of physical fitness, which drew criticism from Moin Khan who slammed Akhtar for his remarks, highlighting how unfit he was during his playing days. The former wicket-keeper batsman further went on to say that had Akhtar been a little more fit, he could've ended up taking more than 400 wickets.
“Shoaib wasn’t sincere with himself, also he was unfit during his playing days. Had he been a fit player, he could have taken more than 400 wickets,” Moin was quoted as saying by GEO TV.
That didn't go down well with the former tearaway quick as in a video posted on his Youtube channel, Akhtar claimed that he won many games single-handedly for Pakistan and has 450 International wickets to his name which, he added, was possible because of captains like Imran Khan and not Moin Khan.
“I have single-handedly won many series for Pakistan which you can only dream of and I already have 450 international wickets to my name in all three formats. Secondly, a player will take 450 wickets when his captain is Imran Khan and not Moin Khan,” said Akhtar.
Yesterday, Pakistan secured a convincing victory against England at Trent Bridge and ensured that they lived up to the “unpredictable” tag to spice up the tournament, which had as many as four one-sided encounters in the first three days.
