VIDEO | Kagiso Rabada misses 'easisest run-out of all time' by throwing ball to the incorrect end
David Warner and Aaron Finch have been the most prolific opening partnership in this World Cup, and teams have found it impossible to get rid off the duo. Today, South Africa had a golden chance to get rid of Warner in the first over of the match, but to their dismay, messed up an easy chance.
Having already been involved in a run-out earlier in this World Cup, Aaron Finch and David Warner had a massive mix-up in the first over of the innings. On the third ball of the first over, Warner got a thick inside-edge off Imran Tahir, with the ball going all the way to Kagiso Rabada at short fine leg. Thanks to an array of yes/no calls, confusion broke down between the two batsmen, and Warner was left stranded in the middle of the pitch with the ball in Rabada's hands.
However, in a moment of madness, Rabada, without realizing the situation, shockingly threw the ball to the non-strikers' end instead, resulting in Warner getting to his crease without danger. Finch was comfortably back to his crease by the time Rabada's throw reached Tahir at the non-strikers' end. Had Rabada thrown the ball to de Kock, it would have been game over for Warner, who was not even close to being in the frame.
If anything, this moment sums up South Africa's showing in this World Cup so far. Only time will tell if this mess up from Rabada will eventually cost South Africa the match.
