MS Dhoni has made the job description of a wicketkeeper look cool ever since he walked in to play his first game. However, the job was never easy as Australia’s Cameron Bancroft found out the hard way when he made a total mess of a catch and an easy stumping on a single ball Melbourne Renegades.

Perth Scorchers slumped to a disappointing 78-run defeat at the hands of Melbourne Renegades in their Big Bash League encounter on Monday at the newly constructed stadium in Perth. However, the end result could have been much different for the home team had certain things gone their way during the game.

Melbourne Renegades’ batsmen, Sam Harper and Mohammad Nabi, looked in good touch in the middle after the 13th over as the score was 102/2. Harper, who had scored 34 off just 22 deliveries was definitely the dangerman at the crease. The Scorchers brought on spinner Usman Qadir to try and break the partnership and get back into the game.

And it seemed like Mitchell Marsh’s decision had the desired effect as Qadir’s very first delivery provided the hosts’ with a wicket-taking opportunity. However,  Scorchers’ wicket-keeper, Cameron Bancroft, failed to make the most of the chance.

A beautiful Qadir delivery managed to deceive on-strike batsman Harper with an elevated height clipped the inside edge of the bat and went straight into the hands of Bancroft. While the Aussie star failed to collect the ball cleanly, he still had enough time to whip off the bails. However, the Australian cricketer fell to the ground as he tried to dislodge the bails by which time Harper made his way back to the crease. It was such an awkward attempt that Bancroft never got close to getting a touch on the wickets.
