Cheteshwar Pujara ranked third in ICC Test rankings after starring in Australia tour
India’s successful outing in Australia has seen Cheteshwar Pujara getting ranked third in ICC Test rankings while Rishabh Pant entered into the top 20. India would be retaining their top spot for 116 points with South Africa sitting second with six points to cover to catch them.
Pujara was definitely the one to see a massive improvement in his rankings after his marvellous form Down Under where he scored 521 runs in four matches and he now stands third on the list with Australia great Steve Smith and Joe Root following him.
Pant followed Pujara in the scoring tally with an impressive 350 runs from four matches in his debut Australian tour and he has been rightly rewarded with a career-best 17th position on the table with the likes of Francois du Plessis and Babar Azam following him.
However, the maiden Test series win saw both India and Virat Kohli further cementing their positions at the top. While Kohli is now sitting with 922 points, 25 more of New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, India sit with a safe 116 points. England, who are to play a three-match Test series with the Windies, would need to win it to retain their third position in the rankings.
Among the bowlers, while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are placed in the top 10 with fifth and ninth place respectively, Jasprit Bumrah has climbed to 15th spot with 711 points.
