ICC ODI Rankings | Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah hold on top spot in recent update
Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah have managed to retain their spot at the top of the batsmen and bowlers list respectively in the recent update of the ICC ODI rankings list. Meanwhile, India trail table-toppers England by just five points as they held onto the second spot in team rankings.
The Indian team will certainly be on cloud nine at the moment after their recent exploits in the historic 2-1 Test series win against Australia last week. While the Men in Blue are the top-ranked team in the ICC Test rankings, they remain number two in the recent ODI ranking update.
Virat Kohli & Co. have amassed 121 points so far and trail table-toppers England by five points. However, all that can change as India, who will play three ODIs against Australia and five against New Zealand over the next month, could reach 125 rating points if they win all of those matches.
Meanwhile, in the individual rankings list, Indian captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma maintained their positions at the top of the batsmen’s list. The duo, who will go up against Australia in the upcoming ODI series, have a tally of 899 points and 871 points respectively.
Kiwi batsmen Ross Taylor and Martin Guptill have retained their third and 14th positions after scoring 281 and 153 runs in the series against Sri Lanka. However, skipper Kane Williamson has dropped out of the top-10 and occupies the 11th position at the moment. Middle-order batsman Henry Nicholls, who impressed in the Test format, has gained 21 places to take 59th position while Colin Munro has moved up from 58th to 56th place.
Gujarat-born pacer Jasprit Bumrah put some distance between Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, and Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the bowlers’ rankings. Bumrah, who took his tally to 21 wickets at an average of 17 and strike-rate of 44.9 in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is at the top the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers with 841 points. Shikhar Dhawan (9th) and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (joint 6th) were the other Indians in the top-10.
