Former Pakistan cricket great Javed Miandad has criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for reportedly planning to bar Pakistan from the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2019. The BCCI is allegedly planning to approach the ICC to prevent Pakistan from participating in the mega event.

The Board of Control for Cricket BCCI has been slammed by Javed Miandad for planning to approach the International Cricket Council (ICC) to prevent Pakistan from participating in the One-Day International (ODI) World Cup to be held in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14, later this year.

"There is absolutely no chance of the ICC listening to the BCCI as its constitution allows members the right to participate in its events," the legendary batsman was quoted as saying by the Dawn.

Some of the former BCCI officials and ex-Indian cricketers have also supported the board to boycott the group stage match between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Pulwama, Kashmir where more than 40 CRPF personnel's were killed and many were injured.

Miandad, who has appeared in 124 tests and 233 One Day Internationals for Pakistan scoring 8832 and 7381 runs respectively, also criticised former India captain and legendary batsman Sourav Ganguly, who called for severing all sporting ties with Pakistan. Former cricketer and World Cup winner Harbhajan Singh had also previously stated that not playing Pakistan in one group league tie in the upcoming World Cup would not affect India’s chances whatsoever.

"I think Sourav wants to run for elections in the coming days or wants to become the chief minister as it is just a publicity stunt to gain attention of his country mates. Pakistan has always offered India a peaceful resolution of the issues but Indians have always responded in negative,” he added.
