PCB condemn actions taken to show solidarity over Pulwama attack
The PCB had expressed its disapproval over the actions taken by cricket associations around India, especially over the removal of the photographs of Pakistan Prime Minister and former cricketer Imran Khan. The PCB had also emphasized that sports and politics should be kept separate.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), had released a statement yesterday following the stringent action taken by cricket associations to remove portraits of Pakistan cricketers in Mumbai, Punjab and Rajasthan. The managing director of PCB, Wasim Khan had expressed large discontent over the blocking of PSL coverage and removing the portrait of Imran Khan from various venues.
“Unfortunately, denying Indian cricket fans the right to follow HBL PSL by blocking all digital coverage as well as covering or removing portrait of former Pakistan cricket captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan and other legendary cricketers from one of the most historic cricket clubs and venues are highly regrettable actions,” stated Khan, reported IANS.
He further indicated that the PCB had always believed that sports and politics should never be intervened as sports, particularly cricket had helped in establishing genuine relationships between the people and the nations.
“The PCB has also noted the recent turn of events and expresses its extreme disappointment as we have always believed and emphasised that sports and politics should be kept separate. History tells us that sports, particularly cricket, have always played a key role in building bridges between people and countries. The PCB intends to take up these incidents with the BCCI and the ICC official at the upcoming ICC committee meeting,” he added.
