Lendl Simmons temporary replacement for Colin Munro in CPL
Lendl Simmons will be filling in for Colin Munro for the Trinbago Knight Riders’ first three matches of the upcoming season of Caribbean Premier League. Munro will be unavailable for he will be representing the national team, before returning to play for record three-time winners of the T20 league.
With Colin Munro currently serving New Zealand on international duty and expected to be a part of the Black Caps contingent until his franchise’s first three matches of the upcoming Premier League, out of favour West Indies international Lendl Simmons has been called up for the time frame.
Even though he is prone to inconsistency, Simmons is one of the most prolific batsmen in the game’s shortest format in the entire world. He has played 264 T20s, including 45 internationals in which he has accumulated more than 6,000 runs and has scored as many as 48 half-centuries.
Playing for the Trinbago Knight Riders will make him the only player to have represented five of the six CPL teams, having donned the jerseys of Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Lucia Zouks, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, and Jamaica Tallawahs in the past. He has played a combined 59 games for the four franchises, having scored 1650 runs making him the third-highest run-getter in the six-year history of the tournament.
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Simmons will stand in for the opening encounters against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs, and St Lucia Zouks on September 4, 6, and 8 respectively.
