Lungi Ngidi, Theunis de Bruyn added to South Africa 'A' squad for India tour
Lungi Ngidi and Theunis de Bruyn have been called up to South Africa 'A' Test squad for the upcoming tour of India which starts on August 25. While Ngidi will be available for selection for all the matches, de Bruyn will only in be in contention to feature in the second four-day Test.
South Africa are set to tour India in the next two months as they aim to bounce back from a disappointing showing at this year's ICC World Cup which was held in England. The Proteas have been experimenting with their squads while offering some opportunities to youngsters and deserving performers.
However, injuries have resulted in some changes in the main squad for the India series as Cricket South Africa (CSA) were forced to promote Anrich Nortje, Beuran Hendricks and Temba Bavuma to the four-day squad to play Virat Kohli & Co. As a result, the selection committee called up pacer Lungi Ngidi, all-rounder Theunis de Bruyn and Marco Jansen to replace the outgoing trio. De Bruyn will only be available for selection for the second four-day game. The South African teams will tour India from August 25 - September 21.
In other news, Russell Domingo's appointment as the coach of Bangladesh meant that Malibongwe Maketa would take up the vacant position as coach of South Africa 'A' side. Meanwhile, Andrew Puttick replaces Enoch Nkwe as assistant coach.
