25 state associations of BCCI have decided to amend their constitution

Around 25 state associations of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have given their consent to amend their constitution as per Supreme Court's order. Jharkhand, Saurashtra, and Karnataka, who had exhibited initial resistance to the idea, are also on board with the whole process.

According to the BCCI, the responses coming back from the state associations have been quite 'overwhelming’. In fact, states like Jharkhand, Saurashtra and Karnataka, who had a few issues on certain recommendations given by the Supreme Court-appointed Lodha Panel, eventually sent their letters of consent to the Committee of Administrators (CoA).

Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh are yet to reveal their ideas on the whole matter. The deadline for the submission of consent letters has been extended till Friday as BCCI expects some more state associations to be on board with the idea.

Kerala, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Goa, Hyderabad, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Jammu & Kashmir, Saurashtra, Jharkhand, Pondicherry, Baroda, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat and Vidharbha state cricket associations have agreed to amend the constitution as per directed by the Supreme Court.

“Some of the submissions may not be completely in order. But we have accepted them and the general body will now take a call on them. States which aren't willing to abide by the Supreme Court order will face financial sanctions," a top BCCI functionary told TOI on Thursday.
