India vs England | James Anderson sanctioned for showing dissent against umpire
James Anderson has been fined 15 % of his match fees and also been handed a demerit point for his argument with umpire Kumar Dharmasena after the latter turned an lbw appeal against Virat Kohli. Anderson admitted to the offence and has accepted the sanctions, thereby avoiding a formal hearing.
While many predicted the Kohli-Anderson clash as the major narrative of the series, it all went out of the window as the Indian skipper has gone on to score 593 runs in nine innings so far, with Anderson is yet to dismiss him in the series. And yesterday, the English pacer had an opportunity to smell the blood for the first time in the series when he struck on Kohli’s pads when the latter was on 16.
However, Dharmasena had ruled it not out. England went for the review but the umpire's call on impact saved the Indian skipper and Kohli went onto score 33 more runs in the innings. Anderson was clearly frustrated by the same and at the end of the over, he snatched his cap and jumper from the Sri Lankan umpire.
