Despite the Decision Review System (DRS) being introduced ten years back in 2008, teams are yet to get a good grasp of it with more wrong reviews taken than right. However, while some sides are bad in it, some are pathetic in using it and Pakistan are definitely one of them as has been proved.

Like every other role in cricket, the wicketkeeper’s has also evolved massively over the years with clamping on to edges and stumping no more the sole duties. And the man to take the role in a different plane altogether is India’s MS Dhoni. The former Indian skipper hasn’t been the best in the business for his stronghold on the basics of his trade, but for his immense awareness and anticipation from behind the stumps.

However, while he has perfected his art to such an extent that DRS has been alternately named as ‘Dhoni Review System, there are others who are miles behind. Pakistan’s Sarfraz Ahmed would definitely be a prime example of it after his recent DRS shenanigans in the ongoing Test match against New Zealand.

After Pakistan managed to take a 74-run lead batting second in the first innings, the Kiwis looked to start better in the second innings. With Henry Nicholis and BJ Waiting both scoring fifties and forging a 112-run partnership, New Zealand managed to end the second innings with a decent 249 runs. The incident happened in the 73rd over when the duo was gaining momentum.

Yasir Shah’s delivery saw to Nicholls saw the southpaw defending on his front foot. A loud shout by the bowler followed it before he discussed his Sarfraz and confirmed if it had touched the bat. Sarfraz eventually signaled ‘T’ and the review showed the ball took a thick inside edge before hitting on his pad. It was Pakistan’s last review and the Pakistan skipper cut across a man defeated in life.
