South africa vs India | Nothing can go wrong with Virat Kohli, says Mohinder Amarnath
Mohinder Amarnath labelled Indian skipper Virat Kohli as the 'Superman' of the team and stated that with Kohli being in the side nothing can go wrong for the Indian team. Amarnath has also lauded the pair of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav for their impressive bowling display in the 3 ODIs.
Virat Kohli seemed to be on fire as he made his way to his 34th ODI century in the third limited-overs match against South Africa at the Newlands. The Indian skipper scored an unbeaten 160* as he became the Indian to have scored the highest innings total on South African soil overtaking the great Sachin Tendulkar who previously held that record. After watching the innings, Mohinder Amarnath, in his column in the TOI, lauded the Indian skipper for his impressive knock and asserted that with Kohli at the helm nothing can go wrong for India from here onwards.
"India are champions in one-day cricket and have been playing like the No. 1 team they are. Once again, it is amazing to see the way Virat Kohli is playing. It's very rare that you get a performance so consistent coming from a captain. He has been unbelievable over the last few years by setting an example for the team and winning games on his own. He's like the Superman of the team, so we can't go wrong anywhere we play," wrote Amarnath, who was part of India's World Cup-winning team of 1983.
"It has been a fantastic
The wrist-spinning pair of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have demolished the South African batsmen and accounted for 21 of the 28 wickets that India have claimed over the three ODis so far. Amarnath heaped praise on the duo of Yadav and Chahal as well as pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
"Bumrah, for me, is one of the key players in the side now. He has done well in Tests and has always been a fantastic performer in the shorter versions of the game. He's one of those pacers who is very hard to pick and handle initially,"
"Overall, the bowling has been fantastic, and it's very obvious that South Africa are poor players of quality spin that Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have dished out. The combination of both spin and pace is putting a lot of pressure on them, and India have been able to control the ODI series things from the word go." wrote Amarnath.
