Shane Watson has stated that to be able to play some of the tournaments happening all around the world is a lot of fun and playing cricket is what he is good at. Watson retired from all forms of International cricket in the year 2016 but has continued playing league cricket all around the world.

Shane Watson may be a spent force as far as the Australia Cricket team is concerned but he has proved time and again that he is value for money as far as franchise cricket is concerned. For example, in this year’s Indian Premier League(IPL) the all-rounder scored 555 runs for the Chennai Super Kings franchise and helped them win their third title

"My mind's open. To be able to play in some of these tournaments around the world, it's so much fun. Also, I've experienced life outside of cricket. Cricket is what I know better than everything. While I can really contribute on the field from a skills point of view, as a senior player and I'm still loving it, my mind's open to continuing to play," Watson told AP.

"But if there comes a point where that real enjoyment is starting to wane and I'm not able to contribute like I know I can, then that'll definitely be the day."

Watson’s career has been an injury prone one but he has always managed to bounce back from the set back to emerge as a better player. He has also managed to stay fit and perform regularly in the T20 cricket, like at the Big Bash League last year where he scored 331 runs at 36.77, and has also performed decently in the Caribbean Premier League, Pakistan Super League as well as the T10 league in UAE since retirement.

"Physically it's always been a challenge anyway, so that hasn't changed," Watson said. "From a mindset point of view, I'm on top of my game more than I ever have. From a technical point of view, I've been able to play Twenty20 cricket for the last three years which means that's the only skill-set I've been working on.

"In theory, cricket is a skill-based game, your skills should only get better the older you get. In theory, you should get better until the physical component comes in and your skills start to go down."
