India vs England | Glenn McGrath feels Ishant Sharma has to figure out role in Indian team
Glenn McGrath believes that veteran pacer Ishant Sharma needs to find a role, in the Indian cricket team, that suits his style of bowling if he wants to pick more wickets in the future. McGrath added that a month and a half month at Sussex under Jason Gillespie has helped Ishant evolve as a bowler.
Ishant showed up big time in the first Test at Edgbaston as he picked up six wickets, which included a five-wicket haul in the second innings. Despite the narrow 31-run loss, there were a lot of positives to take from the game for the visitors as the Indian bowlers apart from Ishant, also put in an impressive display in the series opener.
And Australian bowling legend, Glenn McGrath who picked up 563 wickets in Test cricket, revealed that Ishant proved himself in the first Test with figures of 5/51. However, McGrath added that the 29-year old needed to find a suitable role for himself in the star-studded Indian squad if he looked to pick up more wickets for the rest of the series.

Sharma, who was in England with county side - Sussex ever since he was overlooked for this year’s IPL, was under the tutelage of former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie for the last two months or so. And McGrath believed that Gillespie’s coaching certainly helped Ishant evolve as a bowler ahead of the second Test at Lord’s.
