India team players receive 38.67 lakh rupees each as ICC Champions Trophy prize money
Indian team members earned Rs 38.67 lakh as prize money for finishing as runners-up in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, a BCCI release stated. The Indian board has also revealed that coach Ravi Shastri was paid Rs 2.02 crore for a period of three months between October 18 and January 17.
Despite comfortably beating their archnemesis, Pakistan, in a group stage match of the Champions Trophy by 134 runs, the Men in Blue couldn't cope with their neighbours in the finale when Pakistan came out all guns blazing to put up a mammoth total of 339. However, the journey to the final was undoubtedly a sublime one for the Virat Kohli-led team and rightfully, the players have been awarded a lump sum prize money of Rs 38.67 lakh each.
Meanwhile, coach Ravi Shastri was paid Rs 2.02 crore for a period of three months between October 18 and January 17, and bowling coach Bharat Arun was paid Rs. 26.99 lakh. Former pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji also earned Rs 50 lakh as a one-time benefit for his services to Indian cricket. An amount of Rs 19.44 crore was also paid to IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore as a share of revenue from this season.
The BCCI has also paid the state associations like Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, The Cricket Association of Bengal, Vidarbha Cricket Association, Baroda Cricket Association, Odisha Cricket Association, and Andhra Cricket Association as their annual share of revenues.
