Shane Warne clarifies his comments on India head coach job
A day after claiming that the BCCI could not afford him as Indian coach, Shane Warne has clarified his comments were meant to be a light-hearted joke. The Australian legend also said that his comment about Virat Kohli was completely made up terming the report as ‘ very disappointing journalism'.

However, the 47-year-old took to Twitter yesterday to clear the air about his comments. He defended himself by tweeting:
Re Indian coaching position. I was in a lift & was asked if I would put my hat in the ring I said "India can't afford me" tongue in cheek !

Warne was asked about the possibility of coaching India given that he previously was the captain of Rajasthan Royals from 2008 to 2011 and is not new to mentoring Indian youngsters. However, Warne’s response now means that the BCCI will now consider the incumbent Anil Kumble, Virender Sehwag, former Australian fast bowler and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody, Englishman Richard Pybus and former India cricketers Dodda Ganesh and domestic veteran Lalchand Rajput for the post.
Finally, although Craig McDermott had also applied for the post, his application arrived later than the June 1 deadline, thus ruling him out of consideration.
