WATCH | Dinesh Chandimal gets run out despite having almost full body behind the crease
Dinesh Chandimal was involved in one of the most bizarre runouts today, when Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim dislodged the bails catching Chandimal napping with both his foot and bat in the air. Bangladesh, who have had a few gaffes of their own recently, looked pleased with the hilarious dismissal.
After losing the first ODI to Bangladesh and the second one yielding no result due to a washout, Sri Lanka appeared to be in full control with the scoreboard reading 135-2 in 25 overs, when Chandimal played a Shakib Al Hasan delivery on the off side and called for two runs.
After running the first one hard, Chandimal was rather lethargic on the second run as he chose to jog to the striker's end. In the meanwhile, Taskin Ahmed picked up the ball and threw it into the hands of keeper Rahim who dislodge the bails in a swift movement and the umpire decided to take the decision upstairs.
At first glance, it looked like the Sri Lankan, despite his jog, had made his ground, but the replays told a different story. Even though Chandimal had crossed the crease, both his bat and foot were up in the air.
