After a long season of three months, the sixth edition of the league has come to an end here in Mumbai. We saw some breathtaking action on the mat and many youngsters made headlines in the tournament. At the end, it is the team from Garden City Bengaluru that managed to live its dream in the City of Dreams. Pawan Sehrawat is the new kabaddi sensation in India while the season saw the retirement of one of the legends of the sport – Anup Kumar. 

It started with 12 strong teams and then came the top three from both the zones for the playoffs. The final battle was between second edition’s runners-up Bengaluru Bulls and last year’s runners-up Gujarat Fortunegiants and the Bulls put up a spirited show in the second half and the night belongs to them now.

What a performance by Pawan Sehrawat! What a game for Bengaluru Bulls! They were trailing at the half-time but things turned around completely in the last 20 minutes and the Bengaluru Bulls are the new champions of Pro Kabaddi League. It was a night to remember as the Bengaluru players celebrate at the middle with the two coaches being carried by the players on the shoulders.

Pawan collected 22 points from 25 matches as he was terrific in the night of the final. He is the best raider of the tournament and he is the only man who could get the Man of the Match award as well. A show worth remembering for them as they have gone on to win the tournament for the first time in their second attempt. 

Heart goes out to the Gujarat Fortunegiants at the moment as they had to finish as the second best team of the league in the second consecutive season. After Pardeep Narwal led Patna to beat them in their debut season, a one-man show by Pawan has ensured another final loss for Sunil Kumar and his team. Manpreet Singh is not happy but kudos to the coach and the entire unit of Gujarat for putting up a magnificent performance in the entire season.

The Gujarat Fortunegiants are having a healthy lead of seven points at the moment against the Bulls here in Mumbai. It was a good close encounter but in last five minutes, Gujarat was fantastic in inflicting an all-out and that is why they are having this big lead at the end of the half.

The Bengaluru Bulls have a habit of coming back in the second half which will make the next half really interesting. It remains to be seen which team is going to be crowned as the next champion of PKL.
