Pro Boxing | Amir Khan wants to wear Pakistan colour when he fights Vijender Singh
Pakistan origin boxer from England, Amir Khan wants to don the Pakistan colour whenever he gets to fight Indian professional Vijender Singh in the near future. Khan has time and again expressed his desire to take on Vijender Singh in the past, but now he wants to give it an India vs Pakistan angle.
The British pro boxer has shown interest in meeting Vijender in a fight soon and wanted to give the message of "peace and harmony" through the fight. Amir, who hails from Rawalpindi in Pakistan, was away from the professional ring for a couple of years and returned to the ring in April this year.
"Look, at the end of the day, Vijender is from India and I am from Pakistan. Of course, I am a proud British too, but when the contest will happen, I'll be wearing some Pakistan
"Through this bout, we would like to give the message of peace and humanity. We shouldn't be having a war against each other. The Indian and Pakistani armies shouldn't be killing each other. Instead, there should be sporting events between the two. They should compete sportingly. Vijender and I will go into the ring to show who's the best fighter. But, at the same time, our job will be to use boxing as a tool to bring the people of two nations closer and together."
The 32-year-old world champion has also mentioned that a Dubai-based company was trying to arrange the much-awaited fight between the two but the company ran short of funds and things failed to materialize. Many promoters have tried arranging the game between the two pro boxers from the subcontinent but nothing has materialized so far.
Vijender took up professional boxing in the year 2015 and has 10 wins to his credit so far, in his pro career whereas Amir has an experience of playing from 2005 and has 30 wins to boast of.
"Vijender is a good fighter, but he is not on the same level
