In what can be called a mixed day in the office for Indian shuttlers, the likes of Kiran George and Saina Nehwal notched up great wins, but Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat lost their opening matches. In a major upset, George beat world no. 9 Chinese player Shi Yuqi 21-18, 22-20.

Indian shuttlers Sameer Verma, Kiran George, and Ashmita Chaliha made it to the main draw of the Thailand Open Super 500 tournament after notching straight game wins on Tuesday. Former world no. 11 Verma, who won the Slovenia Open recently, beat Malaysia’s Yeoh Seng Zoe 21-12, 21-17.

Srikanth Kidambi, who was eliminated in first round of Indonesian open, would need to play a qualifier in the first round while P.V. Sindhu is drawn against Linda Zetchiri at the Thailand Open. Saina Nehwal has been drawn against Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the USD 350,000 prize money tournament.
