HS Prannoy moves to 17th spot in BWF rankings; PV Sindhu remains at 5th
After winning the US Open Grand Prix Gold title, Indian shuttler HS Prannoy has climbed up six places to be placed at the 17th position in the latest BWF world rankings. In women’s category, PV Sindhu retained her 5th spot while Saina Nehwal dropped a place to be world number 16.
With Prannoy’s improvement, India, now, have four male shuttlers within the top-20. Kidambi Srikanth, who secured back-to-back Superseries titles at Indonesia Open and Australian Open, is the highest ranked Indian at number 8. Ajay Jayaram is at 16th, while B Sai Praneeth is in 19th spot after losing a place.
In women’s category, Rio Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu remained 5th while Saina Nehwal dropped a spot to be world number 16.
In mixed doubles, Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy have dropped three places and now sit at the 20th spot. No Indian pair could manage to break into the in the top 25 of men’s or women’s doubles.
