Indian women's compound team elevates to top of world rankings
As per the list released by the world body on Thursday, Indian women's compound team has made it to the top of the world rankings. This the first time that the Indian women's compound team has occupied the top position replacing Chinese Taipei from there with six more points, 342.6 in total.
The Indian women's compound team has displayed exceptional performance as they went on to conquer a silver medal in both Antalya and Berlin. India had displaced Chinese Taipei from the lead position as they earned six points more, a total of 342.6 points. Jyoti Surekha and Muskan Kirar were there in both the teams which had the privilege of conquering silvers.
The elevation in the position of the Indian Women's compound team is well appreciated as the Asian Games are around the corner. Divya Dayal got to be the third member of the team as they went on to claim silver at Antalya, whereas Trisha Deb was there in the team when they won silver in Berlin.
The Archery Association of India has not put up entries in team events in Stage 3 held at Salt Lake City, USA. Jyothi Surekha and Abhishek Verma have together qualified for the World Cup finals in the Compound mixed team event, scheduled to be in Turkey on September 29 and 30. They continue to be World No. 5 and the recurve mixed team is at World No. 7 spot.
The women's recurve team is at world No. 8 position but the men's recurve team, unfortunately, slipped to 12th position. Last year, the Indian women's compound team bagged their first silver in the World Championships in Mexico City. In 2014, India had claimed a gold and bronze in the men's and women's compound team respectively in the Asian Games in Incheon.
