Reports | Leicester City to hand James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu new deals
Leicester City have opened talks with James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu over new and improved contracts with the Foxes keen on rewarding the duo. The 2015/16 Premier League winners have been in exceptional form this season and sit eight points behind Liverpool on the Premier League table.
The Foxes have had a sensational start to the season and are on an eight-game winning run in the Premier League. That combined with their performances have placed the 2015/16 Premier League winners ahead of reigning champions Manchester City and just eight points behind league leaders Liverpool. However, while Leicester City’s board have managed to tie down manager Brendan Rodgers to a new five-and-a-half-year deal, their next target is their players.
Sky Sports has reported that the Foxes are keen on tying down both James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu with new and improved long-term contracts. That would effectively end Manchester United, Manchester City and even Arsenal’s interest in the duo and Sky Sports further added that Leicester want to add tighter sell-on terms. However, both sides are relaxed about any negotiations as both Maddison and Soyuncu have four and a half years left on their current contracts.
But despite their relaxed approach to any new contract, the club are determined not to sell anybody in January, amidst serious interest from fellow Premier League sides. Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for the former Norwich City midfielder, while Manchester United and Arsenal have been considering a January move for Soyuncu.
