Cricket South Africa announced on Monday that the third season of the Mzansi Super League (MSL), scheduled to be played in February 2022, has been called off due to Covid-19 scare in the country. The MSL will be replaced with a domestic CSA T20 challenge featuring eight Division 1 teams.

CSA have confirmed that the third edition of Mzansi Super League, South Africa’s premier franchise T20 competition, has been indefinitely postponed owing to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘Various national and international logistical reasons’ are believed to have influenced the decision.

South African all-rounder JP Duminy has been ruled out of South Africa's premier T20 competition, Mzansi Super League, with a hamstring injury. He suffered a high-grade partial tear to his right hamstring in Paarl Rocks' training session in their lead-up to the first game against Cape Town Blitz.

South Africa international Temba Bavuma has been named as the skipper of defending champions Jozi Stars for the second edition of Mzansi Super League. While this move has fuelled the talks of Bavuma’s succession of Test captaincy, Quinton de Kock felt that this would boost the batsman’s confidence.
