Watch | Jonny Bairstow mirrors Shubman Gill's iconic celebration after century for Yorkshire
Players often make a memorable spectacle of their century celebrations, and Shubman Gill has perfected this art. A comparable scene unfolded in the County Division 2 game between Yorkshire and Middlesex where Jonny Bairstow reached his century and emulated Gill's signature celebration.
Bairstow began his innings in the 46th over with the score at 172/3. He started cautiously but soon accelerated, targeting Middlesex bowlers Hollman and Toby Roland-Jones with boundaries. After Luxton's dismissal, Bairstow reached his fifty off 77 balls. He continued to rotate the strike and hit more boundaries and ended up scoring a century off 122 balls. After hitting the ton, he replicated Shubman Gill’s iconic gesture by removing his helmet and bowing to the home dressing room. The crowd was thrilled by Bairstow's performance, marking his first first-class century in over two years and a significant response to his exclusion from England’s Test squad.
