7 Things You Missed | From Tim Paine's banter with Kumar Dharmasena to Joe Denly getting hit on the box
Whats's up everyone? Hope you had a good and relaxing Saturday! Meanwhile, you might have missed the most obvious of things from Day 3 of the Ashes Test today! So, just sit back and relax, as we sat through the entire match and compiled each and every interesting thing. Here we go!
First 50-run opening partnership in the Ashes series!
This was the first time in this Ashes series that a team put on 50 or more runs for the opening stand! In the first innings, Joe Denly and Rory Burns put up the then highest opening partnership of 27 runs and in the second innings today, they went one better and successfully crossed the 50-run mark.
Are the Aussie bowlers targeting the abdomen guards of the English players? We saw this happen with the Root earlier and today, with Joe Denly! That reaction from Joe Root says everything!
Australian players fail to review!!It was a good length delivery from Pat Cummins to Joe Denly which pitched on a good length and hit him on his right pad which brought about a loud appeal from the Aussies. The Umpire was not satisfied with the delivery and so did not raise his finger. However, Australia did not review it and later, when the ball tracking was shown on the big screen, it was three reds! Another missed opportunity!
What was Tim Paine talking about?
Tim Paine was spotted having fun with Umpire Kumar Dharmasena during the lunch break!
Signaling boundary with footwear!!There were few among the crowd at The Oval who signaled four with their shoes in their hands! It took place when World Cup hero Ben Stokes smashed a rocket to the boundary!
Bairstow did it again to Steve Smith today!
Jonny Bairstow fooled Smith for the second time in two days, today by changing his shot to confuse Smithy from stopping the ball!
Flying catch from Steve Smith!
That surely has to be the best catch of the series so far!! We saw a stunning catch from Rory Burns yesterday but Steve Smith went one better and took a stunning diving one-hander in the slip cordon today!
