Former Indian wicket-keeper Vijay Dahiya has been appointed as chief talent scout by Delhi Capitals after they decide to cut ties with Pravin Amre. Dahiya previously server Kolkata Knight Riders as assistant coach till 2017.
Vijay Dahiya has been instrumental with KKR during his long stint as an assistant coach with the franchise. During his stay, KKR had a glorious time while winning the IPL trophy twice under the leadership of Gautam Gambhir.
He was then charged with ‘conflict of interest’ by the face of anti-DDCA Kirti Azad as Dahiya was also the chief coach of Delhi state team at that time. After the series of allegations, KKR part ways with the former keeper.
Dahiya has replaced Pravin Amre, who has served the Delhi franchise for the last five years as a talent scout and has picked up talents like Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Rishab Pant who are now the fulcrum for the Capitals.
"Dahiya is a good option since he is a local and played a lot of cricket for Delhi besides coaching the Delhi's state team. It's always good to have people who are familiar with the talent available in the region. A franchise should have more local talent to build a stronger fan base," a source close to the development told TOI.
