Minute margins can play a good part in dictating the outcome of a match. It’s not a surprise anymore with many decisions being reversed due to the bowler’s slight error - as was the case with Kagiso Rabada whose overstepping denied a spectacular catch from Kyle Verreynne to save Pathum Nissanka.

Sri Lanka’s start to a gargantuan chase in the fourth innings incurred an early setback when Kagiso Rabada outsmarted Dimuth Karunaratne in the fifth over. His partner, however, tried his level best to negate the Proteas attack but was almost a goner after a terrific catch from the wicketkeeper until a no-ball saved him for a brief moment.

On the fifth ball of the ninth over, Rabada bowled a short-pitch delivery into the right-hander who incurred a top-edge on an intended pull. As the ball skewed off high, Verreynne switched to his right and made good ground to complete a terrific reverse cup grab. Amidst the Proteas celebration, the onfield umpire expressed his desire for a TV umpire intervention. Joel Wilson had a close look at it and figured out that there was some part of the boot behind the crease from the bowler. Eventually, it was confirmed that Rabada had overstepped causing the original decision to get overturned, earning a lifeline to Nissanka. Seeing the celebration cave into a tragedy in no time, Verreynne and the Twitterverse were stunned.
