The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a partnership with Facebook which will see the website become the exclusive digital partner for ICC global events in the Indian sub-continent. As per the deal, it will carry the post-match recaps throughout the rest of the world through to 2023.

Facebook is expected to reach its viewers by providing them with a variety of cricket-based telecast including match recaps, in-play moments, featured content and other matches.

"We are delighted to welcome Facebook to the global cricket family for this multi-year, multi-market partnership which is a first for our sport. The combination of one of the world's most-watched sports with one of the world's largest platforms is exciting for the future of our game,” said ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney.

This partnership has been forged just after the 2019 ICC World Cup where Cricket established itself as one of the most-watched sports in the world grabbing 4.6 billion eyeballs across ICC’s digital platform and social media. Sawhney feels that the power cricket coupled with the popularity of Facebook will make the collaboration a fruitful one.

"The record-breaking growth in digital consumption at this summer's ICC World Cup demonstrated the continued power of cricket to connect and engage more deeply with diverse audiences around the world,” added Sawhney.

“Throughout the competitive bid process, we received tremendous interest from a range of platforms, all of whom recognise the phenomenal reach of cricket. In Facebook, we have a genuine partner who shares in our ambition to continue to grow and deepen engagement with cricket fans globally using its platforms."
